Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is currently seeking energetic Summer Student Assistants to support children and youth with disabilities across various programs. These may include the Entry to School Program (ETS), part of the Ontario Autism Program, which supports families of children with autism aged 3 to 6 as they prepare for their first year of school. Opportunities may also include Camp Erin, a program serving children and youth up to age 17 with complex behavioural or medical needs. Camp Erin focuses on fun, engaging activities while providing individualized (1:1) support.
These positions will be co-sponsored by Service Canada and is part of the summer employment initiative known as the 2026 Canada Summer Jobs. In order to meet eligibility requirements, candidates must also meet the stipulations outlined by Service Canada. Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of daily activities; prepare resources and professional materials. Set up gross motor activities e.g, obstacle courses, outdoor play
- Support clients in a classroom environment
- Assist clients with personal care routines (eg. toileting, feeding & transitions)
- Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development
- Other duties as assigned by program leads
- Promote participate in activities
- Cleaning and organizing items/ toys
- Support with setting up and cleaning up the classroom
- Between 15 and 30 years of age;
- Classification as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Working towards a diploma or degree in Autism Behavioral Sciences, Early Childhood Education, or Child and Youth Worker is a strong asset;
- Experience working with children with physical and developmental disabilities is an asset;
- Experience in daycare, classroom and/or camp settings is an asset;
- Experience assisting individuals in personal care is an asset;
- Current C.P.R, First Aid and CPI certificates are preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
- Enjoy working with children in a team atmosphere;
- Must be able to travel across sites (Camp Erin).
