Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, the Manager, Health, Safety and Wellness oversees the organization’s health, safety, and wellness programs, providing operational leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering continuous improvement to support a safe and healthy workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Program
  • Lead and enhance the organization's occupational health and safety strategy, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable workplace health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Remain current with legislation and industry trends.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety and infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, investigations, and audits.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety metrics, incidents, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Along with the Health and Safety Specialist, support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Participate and support the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Committee activities.
  • Provide oversight of active WSIB cases.
  • Propose and lead ongoing initiatives through the Health and Safety Excellence Program.
  • Support the organization’s transition to Parklane Incident Management System.
  • Laise with external partners including Ministry of Labour, Organizational Solutions Inc. and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
  • Foster a culture of safety through education, communication, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support a safe and healthy work environment by leading by example and reinforcing the Health and Safety program at ErinoakKids.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act at all times.
Wellness Program
  • Provide guidance and leadership over all non-occupational health related leaves, return to work programs and accommodation plans.
  • Ensure return to work programs and accommodation plans are developed and implemented in accordance with human rights legislation and organizational policies.
  • Monitor case progress and identify opportunities to support successful and timely return-to-work outcomes.
  • Maintain confidential employee medical and disability records in compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Develop, implement and monitor Wellness program that align with organizational objectives.
Leadership and Team Oversight
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to members of the Health, Safety and Wellness team.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development of team members.
  • Foster a team culture grounded in ErinoakKids’ values of inclusion, collaboration, excellence, integrity.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Business or a related field;
  • 5-7+ years of progressive leadership experience in occupational health and safety, disability management, workers' compensation, or employee wellness, preferably within healthcare and/or childcare environments.
  • Professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be an asset.
  • Proven experience managing complex disability and accommodation cases.
  • Experience conducting workplace incident investigations and risk assessments.
  • Experience with Parklane Incident Management System is a strong asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, AODA, Human Rights Code, Ministry of Labour and legislative requirements.
  • Strong understanding of disability management, return-to-work processes, and workplace accommodations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel to various ErinoakKids sites.
