Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is currently seeking to fill a temporary full-time position for Registered Nurse. The RN will be responsible for providing direct clinical services to clients requiring support to reach optimal levels of independence, health and well-being.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing supports to Clinics (i.e., Botox, Consultative Development Clinic/ Medication Review, CP Neuromotor, Oral Motor Feeding, Transitions); tasks may include chart preparation, ordering of supplies and ensuring referrals are completed.
  • Provide clinical consultation and direct clinical appointments to support hygiene, sexuality, catheterization, bowel and bladder management, gastrostomy tube care, seizure management, and nutrition
  • Support the Independent Living Program during the summer as needed.
  • Attend workshops as guest speaker when required
  • Educate clinical staff on EOK policies and procedures for infection control and medical management of clients with seizures and other health conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with families, clients, physicians, clinical staff, and community agencies for optimum family-centered supports
  • May be required to contribute to the development of new clinical processes as needed
Qualifications:
  • A Nursing Degree from a recognized school of nursing, and current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses. 
  • Three years of pediatric nursing experience required with an area in developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
  • Experience with feeding, swallowing and oral motor assessment skills an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge regarding community resources and supports an asset.
  • Demonstrated nursing assessment and problem solving skills and the capacity to work well within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Innovative self-starter who is client focused and is committed to providing accessible comprehensive primary health care.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills. Experience with Excel and Microsoft is preferred.   
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario’s driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle as the nurse will need to travel within the community and to all sites
