Compensation Range: $18.55 - $21.83/ hour


Position Summary: 
ErinoakKids is currently seeking an energetic Summer Program Assistant to support children and youth with disabilities who are participating in the Independent Living Program (Mississauga site/community) and other therapeutic summer programs. Successful candidates will possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
 
These positions will be co-sponsored by Service Canada and is part of the summer employment initiative known as the 2025 Canada Summer Jobs. In order to meet eligibility requirements, candidates must also meet the stipulations outlined by Service Canada. Please see the Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements section below for additional details.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist participants to problem solve, set strategies, and help them achieve personal goals by maximizing their independence in day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of activities; prepare resources and professional materials.
  • Promote participation in leisure activities, social skill development, and complex life skills (e.g., cooking, using transportation, budgeting/money management, etc.).
  • Assist clients with personal care routines as needed (e.g., diapering, toileting, feeding, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by program leads.
Qualifications:
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age;
  • Classification as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about working with children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities;
  • An ability to display a high level of initiative;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
  • Experience working with children and youth with challenging behaviours;
  • Experience assisting individuals with personal care;
  • Current C.P.R, First Aid and CPI certificates are preferred;
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
  • Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Recreation Therapy, or Registered Nurse/Registered Practical nursing students preferred.
