Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is looking for an organized and motivated individual to join our Health Records team. The Health Information Management Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality and accessibility of patient health information in accordance with both internal policies and procedures, and legislative requirements.  The position is responsible for the daily management of the patient record including Release of Information, scanning, chart audits and enrollment to the ErinoakKids Connect Portal. This position supports the organization’s commitment to family-centered care for the children and families we serve.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Processing Release of Information requests (access requests and disclosure to third parties such as school boards, lawyers, insurance companies);
  • Scanning and uploading of reports into the client Electronic Health record or filing into the paper record system;
  • Retrieving and preparing records for scanning in accordance with established procedures;
  • Follow up on incomplete or misidentified reports or information;
  • Maintaining patient record integrity by adhering to system procedures;
  • Data entry and coding in accordance with internal processes;
  • Researching lost or missing records;
  • Maintaining discharged inactive and surplus client records;
  • Processing portal requests/portal enrollments;
  • Support staff within the organization in accurate Health Records processes.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a recognized Health Information Management Program with a minimum of 2 year’s experience in a health care environment
  • Active member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of personal computers
  • Good computer application skills in MS Office, Outlook, Internet and Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Proficiency in typing and accurate keyboarding of 40 w.p.m.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
  • Must be able to work until 6 pm as required
